Behind the Wings: Why is Aviation Hard to Decarbonize?
Air travel accounts for about 2 percent of global carbon dioxide emissions and remains one of the hardest industries to decarbonize. As fuel efficiency improves, air travel demand is outpacing the marginal improvements. The challenges to go green in the Aviation industry are great, but companies across the industry are looking at opportunities to mitigate the emissions, and transition towards carbon neutrality by 2050. Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Carbon Capture are some of the biggest opportunities to go green in aviation. It's going to take cooperation from policymakers, companies, and fuel producers to achieve carbon neutrality in the aviation industry.
