At I/ITSEC 2021, BISim unveiled an exciting new mixed reality weapons trainer. Using a mockup of the Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle, the gunner and loader can see each other through the Varjo’s XR-3 headsets’ high-fidelity passthrough cameras, as well as the same blended virtual elements produced in VBS Blue IG and driven by VBS4 as the simulation host.

The entire setup is easily deployable and portable, packing into two Pelican-style cases. It’s versatile, not only to be used as a weapons trainer, but can also be adapted to other uses such as JTAC/FO and medic training. Collaboration is a key benefit of using mixed reality for training - multiple users can see each other both in the real world and in the same virtual environment provided by VBS4 and VBS Blue IG.
