Founder and Chairman of J. Zechner Associates John Zechner says what's happening with oil companies right now is similar to the struggle that tobacco companies faced in the late 80s when they became less popular. The space consolidated, raised valuations and spun out a lot of cash for stockholders. He says energy and financial names are better and safer buys than stocks caught up in the speculation frenzy.
