00:00 - NASA launches Artemis I moon mission. Nasa’s Artemis 1, most powerful rocket in history, blasts off to moon. Successful launch from Cape Canaveral in Florida follows scuppered attempts in August and September.
Two hurricanes, two months and a number of technical fixes since previous launch attempts were thwarted, Nasa’s Artemis 1, the most powerful space rocket in history, is finally on course for the moon after lifting off from Florida early on Wednesday.
Teams began walkdowns and inspections at the pad to assess the status of the rocket and spacecraft after the passage of Hurricane Nicole.
The spacecraft, comprising the mighty Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and pioneering Orion capsule, lit the night sky as it rose from its Cape Canaveral launchpad. The 25-day, 1.3m-mile journey to the moon and back is Nasa’s first crew-capable deep-space mission for half a century.
00:04 - Meet Commander Moonikin Campos, the mannequin going farther than any astronaut. Artemis I will carry an unconventional crew when it's expected to lift off Wednesday on a journey around the moon. Rather than astronauts, a mannequin named Commander Moonikin Campos will helm the Orion spacecraft, with two mannequin torsos called Helga and Zohar along for the ride.
00:13 - 26 November - Artemis I: A giant rocket to set new space records, it will be about 280,000 miles (450,600km) from the Earth, breaking previous record of Apollo.
00:20 - Artemis 2 and Artemis 3 Manned Missions.
