Hey guys, here I demo the all mighty Peavey 5150 and the ability of the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx3 to mimick it.
For this comparison, the 5150 was first set to where it sounded good to my ears and then the axe-fx3 was tweaked by ear to sound as to close to the 5150 as possible. The goal of this video is for you to focus on the differences between sounds rather than on the sound itself.
Here are the amp models used to match the 5150.
Rythm channel clean - PVH 6160 Block
Rythm channel + crunch + bright - PVH 6160 Block
Lead channel - PVH 6160+ Lead
For consistency, all clips were reamped and I used the same Impulse Response for both amps. All clips have been EQ-matched gain-matched and volume-matched as close as I could get it (all within the amp block of the Axe-fx only, no other block or external plugin was used).
No post-processing of any kind was added to these tracks, it's all raw from the amps.
When boosting, the boost pedal used was a tube screamer emulation plugin directly added to the DIs prior to reamping and with identical settings for both amps.
Guitar used for the DIs:
Ibanez RG721RW
If you read it all until here, you're officially awesome !
