The first real battle with the game's rival. Look at his smug mug, I love it. Since it's based on Ruby and not Emerald there's no battle after the first gym. This fight's rather infamous in most runs, but here it comes after an extended sequence of fighting like 30 DEADLY SEVEN characters, so my levels are rather high for this stage.
The team's basically the same as vanilla except for an added Taillow, but using Quartz analogues. Reabari is a Normal/Flying type, Strawbaya is a pure Grass type, Colossio is a Water/Rock type, and Embaby is Fire/Dark.
Side note, J. Akira is... Quite a character. Brendan in vanilla RSE is just kind of a sexist jerkwad, but J. Akira here is horny on main. The remakes added romantic overtones to some of the scenes with the rival, but J. Akira is coming onto the protagonist right out of the gate. From what I understand the female rival's also quite thirsty for the player.
