Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer.com, and today we are looking at our Kuat Transfer V2 two-bike rack here on our 2021 bronc Ford Bronco sport. Now this is a really good bike rack if you are, if you are a fan of Kuat line but you don't want to be as pricey as maybe like Kuat NV and if you are looking for something that has really good clearance, when it comes to the back of your vehicle, one of the features of the transfer is that it can tilt away to do so. You have this lever right here and this tilts down and you'll want to do this if you wanna access your hatch. Now here on our Bronco sport you can see how it doesn't tilt down far enough to get full clearance. So I do recommend you doing is just to use the glass opening instead, if you want to get into your hatch, but other than that, you can also just take off the bike really quickly if you are if you do need that clearance.
So just keep that in mind. Now for here if you just bring it up it snaps into place in the upright position. Let's talk about how this carries your bike. So this has a 40 pound weight capacity which is decent for most of your normal bikes. If you do have a heavy electric bike though, I recommend getting the Kuat Transfer V2 with a 2 inch solid shank, cause that has a 60 pound weight capacity, but when you wanna take this bike off, you start here at this rear wheel strap, press this button and pull up on that strap and just leave it to the side out of the way.
Now, here in the front, make sure to support your bike as to do so, press this button on our front wheel clamp like that. Now this is a pretty new, when it is new, it is a little bit of a tight fit, especially if you cla, have it clamped down really hard, let's get that released, right there. Okay and then we'll pull this up and push that out, and then you just lift the bike up and out and you are ready to go on a road trip. Let's take a look at the bike rack itself. Here, we have a rear wheel cradle and this tilts back and fourth for when you have different wheel bases, you can see how it has grooves to accommodate different tyre widths.
Now on its own, this strap can accommodate tyre widths of up to 3 inches but if you get the extended strap you can then carry fat tyre bikes with higher widths of up to 5 inches. Now this ratchets down to secure that rear wheel. Let's take a look here at the front. So this does have a goal post design which makes it very easy to lift your bikes up and onto the cradles. You have that large front wheel cradle as well as this front wheel clamp I had a carbon frame bike there earlier, and that was great, cause at night wasn't worried about it warping but also works with your alternate frame bikes like your women's bikes, children's bikes, your set through bikes, cause this just secures them without the need of a frame adaptor bar.
Alright, let's get that folded down to look nice and neat and let's talk about measurements. So when you do have this on your vehicle some length is added to the back of it measuring from our rear bumper all the way to the end of the bike rack right where that lock is for your cable lock. It sits at 34 and three quarter inches. So the decent amount of length for a two-bike rack still something to keep in mind when you're backing into garage, we're trying to park into a really tight spot. Let's also talk about ground clearance. So here underneath our arms, it sits at 20 inches off the ground and from our shank it sits at 14 inches off the ground. So it does add a little bit of height, ground clearance is something you think about when you're going up a really steep incline, like a driveway or a hill or if you're taking this Bronco off-roading you might be concerned about ground clearance when you're going over those bumps and those hills. You can also cut down on that ground clearance by just pressing on that lever and then folding the entire bike rack off up. So in this position, this is a nice way to have it in this position when you're driving around town. Let's take a look at where your backup camera is that goal post design will give you a little extra clearance and is less likely to obstruct your camera compared to your other tray design bike racks. You also have your tail lights completely open and your license plate is clear, which is awesome. Now let's take some measurements, measuring from the bumper to the closest point i
