Wisdom teeth removals are some of the most common procedures our surgeons perform at Alexandria Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center, and we offer the procedure at all three of our offices in Alexandria, LA, and Vidalia, LA. The procedure itself is outpatient and typically takes less than two hours to complete. Usually, patients are back to their regular routines after just a few days, and the tooth sockets will heal completely over the next 10–14 days. The entire treatment process involves one consultation appointment, the removal procedure, and a brief recovery period.

Dr. Smith received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Occidental College in 1988, after which he was part of a research team at Children’s Hospital of LA studying retinal cancer. He then decided to continue his education by earning his law degree at the University of Oregon. As a lawyer, he fiercely advocated for the right of his clients, and he carried that passion for helping people over into his medical career. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Oregon Health & Sciences University, followed by a general surgery internship at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. He was drawn to the precise techniques involved in oral surgery, and completed an oral surgery residency program at the University of Louisville in 2006.

After receiving his undergraduate degree in Biology, Dr. Arnold gained a B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 1993. During his time working as a physical therapist, Dr. Arnold helped rehabilitate TMJ and jaw disorder patients, many of whom also worked with oral surgeons and dental professionals. These cases sparked his interest in dentistry, and he returned to the University of Mississippi to earn his dental degree, which he completed in 2002. After dental school he decided to continue his training in order to treat a wider variety of more complex cases. He attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky, where he earned a Medical Doctorate in 2005 and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2008.
