As a result of the evolving coronavirus outbreak in the tri-state region and new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has canceled the Saltwater Fishing Expo in Edison, NJ scheduled for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 13–15. “While the decision to cancel the Saltwater Fishing Expo comes at a time of great uncertainty, we believe this is the most prudent course of action to help protect our staff, members, exhibitors and attendees,” NMMA president Frank Hugelmeyer said in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.
ALSO, due to the current situation with the COVID-19 virus, the Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, like many other organizations around the Country, will be cancelling their annual Fishing Fleamarket scheduled for for March 15, 2020
The decision to cancel puts many local tackle shops in a situation with surplus tackle - in some cases trailers-full - that should be deeply discounted in shop this weekend. Be sure to check social media in the next couple of days as local shops announce weekend plans as they figure out ways to adapt, improvise and overcome.

Striped bass action is already hot at the Garden State heading into the weekend; the Finessence scented “worm balls” are scoring fish along the bayshore, and it looks like we have reports of at least two 20-plus-pound bass from the tri-state region.
