On January 16, 2024, a tunnel stop log was blasted at the JC Boyle dam, one of the four dams being removed for the Klamath River Renewal Project. This blast initiated a drawdown for the JC Boyle reservoir. All the remaining dams will be removed by the end of 2024, opening up over 350 miles of spawning habitat to wild salmon.
