Police are on the hunt for Christopher Wade Brown, a former teacher with Mount Paran Christian School, who they said had relations with a 17-year-old student in late July of this year.
Brown is also accused of attempting to have relations with a 15-year-old student from Roswell high school as recently as this month, according to arrest warrants obtained by FOX 5 News. The 37-year-old is wanted for Sexual Assault by a Teacher, Influencing a Witness and Enticing a Child.
The arrest warrants show Brown told his wife he was meeting a girl to tutor her, but instead met a 15-year-old Roswell High School student at a nearby Starbucks. The two went to a nearby park, sat in a car and kissed, according to the investigation. The warrants stated that Brown told the girl “how happy he was with her and how beautiful she was.”
The accusations came to light in September when authorities learned of the incident from one of the girl’s friends who told her parents. Roswell police contacted Marietta police about an alleged incident in July involving a 17-year-old girl, a student at Mt. Paran Christian School where Brown was employed at the time. According to the warrant, Brown had sexual relations with the girl and then when he realized he was being investigated, authorities said he texted the alleged victim’s friend and asked her to contact the girl to “make sure we’re on the same page with our story.”
“And we gave Mr. Brown the opportunity to come in Wednesday for interview and to give his side. He decided not to show. His attorney called Tuesday night and let us know he would not be there for an interview,” said Brittany Wallace with the Marietta Police Department.
“Administrators at Mount Paran Christian School learned of the potential allegations regarding Mr. Brown at 10 p.m. on September 29. And we immediately instructed Mr. Brown not to return to campus,” said Headmaster David Tilly.
According to Mount Paran Christian School, Brown taught physics, chemistry, and computer science for one year at the high school. He was terminated from the school on October 4.
The school released a statement pledging to work with authorities which reads in part:
“MPCS remains fully committed to a Christ-centered environment that takes very seriously its role in protecting the safety and well-being of all students.”
School administrators said Brown came from another Christian school from out-of-state and passed their strict vetting process without raising any red flags.
"[He's] given teachers a bad rap at this point. Teachers are leading our children. They are there eight hours a day with our students or with our children, their students to educate them and bring them up and show them what's right, not what's wrong," said Wallace.
Anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts are asked to please contact the MPD Investigative Division at 770-794-5335 or the anonymous tip line at 770-794-6990.
