This is the moment a Ukrainian MiG-29 pilot let rip with an American-made HARM anti-radiation missile aimed at a Russian radar in the air war over Ukraine. First-person cockpit footage shows the moment the missile, which is designed to lock on to signals put out by enemy radar, is fired from the Soviet-era jet. The pilot, callsign Wild Weasel, stays low and deploys flares to avoid being hit. The air war in Ukraine is still very hot and the airspace remains hugely contested, as more footage of Russian Ka-52 helicopters on a bombing run demonstrates. The choppers used dumb rockets fired on a lofted trajectory to hit Ukrainian lines in Kupyansk, but again had to stay low and pop flares to avoid being hit. Yet more helicopters were filmed protecting Ukrainian lines, as two US-made Mi-17V-5 Hip gunships buzzed low over the battlefield, carrying Hydra-70 rockets. They are similar to the rockets fired by the Ka-52 helicopters, and are used as dumb munitions to bombard Russian positions along the frontlines.
