The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) says water will not be restored to customers in parts of North Trinidad by Thursday night.
Several areas from Piarco in the East to Cocorite in the west, served by the Caroni Water Treatment Plant, have been without water since Wednesday.
The WASA has been conducting repairs on a blown valve along the 48-inch diameter Caroni NorthTtransmission Main in Piarco.
The repair work was initially due to be completed by 6am on Thursday but WASA said the problem turned out to be more severe.
The Authority's Acting CEO, Allan Poon-King, told TTT news, WASA will begin the process of sending water through the lines at 8pm but the supply will not reach households until Friday morning.
He said, however, there may be discolouration and advised customers to allow the first set of water to go to waste until it normalises.
