The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has extended the voter registration exercise by two days. This follows an order by the High Court which compelled the electoral agency to continue with the exercise to give room for eligible voters who would have been locked out by today’s deadline. The development comes after rights activist Okiya Omutata filed a petition seeking extension of voter listing beyond prescribed time arguing that voter enrolment can only be closed two months to the General Election.
