If the upright row wasn't so problematic for the shoulder joint, these would actually be a decent exercise, as they're arguably very comparable to a typical lateral raise movement. However, due to the lateral raise being a better option for medial delt recruitment, coupled with the impingement issues of the upright row, unfortunately they don't really hold a place in most people's programs.
