Named after Queen Victoria’s 60th jubilee coronation and established in 1897, it has a land mass of 27 acres. This is a place where most people, specially holiday makers never fail to visit and enjoy the beautifully laid out gardens with the colourful flora and fauna which are maintained beautifully by the municipality. The flowers are in full bloom in March, April and May and again in August and September. There is a separate area for the kids too. Easily accessible as it is located right in the city centre and yet one does not feel that it is in the city Centre.
The Queen Victoria Park is situated in middle of the Nuwara Eliya City and It’s one of the must visit destination. This park was named to honor the 60th Jubilee Coronation of Queen Victoria in the year 1897. Originally the park was the research field of Hakgala Botanical Garden.
It contains a lot of colorful flowers, and very nice places to enjoy and relax. It also contains a playing area for kids, and a train tour for adults too. This place is famous for bird watching and there are large verities of plants and trees available. victoria park come alive with the flowers specially around March to May, and August to September.
You can see several types of birds in there. Which are they Indian Pitta, endemic Yellow-eared BulBuls, Sri Lanka White-eye, Scimitar Babbler and migrant Pied Thrush, Forest Wagtail, Velvet Nuthatch and Indian Blue Robin, Kashmir Flycatcher & etc.
This is one of the country's most attractive, and best-maintained, town parks. A stroll around its paths, past manicured lawns, is a pleasure. The park comes alive with flowers around March to May, and August and September. It’s also home to quite a number of hill-country bird species, including the Kashmir flycatcher, Indian pitta and grey tit. If are gonna plan to stay at “Nuwara Eliya” city, this is one of the nice place to end up journey and relax some time.
Originally the park was the research field of Hakgala Botanical Garden 6°58'08.7"N 80°46'05.5"E. The park was formally named in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. The park was established with the planting of its first tree, an Oak, by a visiting German Princess. The Nanu Oya River runs through the park, creating a number of small lakes. A number of rare bird species can be found in the park. At the far end of the park is a small children's playground and miniature ridable railway.
Victoria Park is old, as in extremely old. It was initially the research field for the Hakgala Botanical Garden, but was renamed after Queen Victoria in 1897. It covers a pretty large area spanning over 25 acres. The park is open year-round but the best times to visit it is during the flowering seasons from March to May and August to September.

In this period most of the local peoples they never miss this for visit. Wandered over to in this Park for a stroll and to have a picnic. This victoria Park Children park its very suit with some activities for young kids and its very safe Park.
The management have done a great job of maintaining the park, but we were disappointed to see quite a bit of empty bottles and plastic bags being thrown around by the visitors. When we asked the officers about this they said that with the number of personnel they have, there's only so much they can do, which we can understand.
Victoria Park is home to arguably the widest array flowers in the country, with just the Peradeniya botanical gardens for competition. Flowers that you'll most likely come across are roses, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, Peruvian lilies as well as rarer flowers like rhododendrons and snapdragons. Most of the pathways inside the park are paved, but you can also find natural pathways which walk you right through the trees. Even the foliage is lush and expansive with tall trees marking the boundaries of the park. It's just green as far the eye can see.
Nuwara Eliya is one of the best vacation destinations to get away from the city and relax, and taking a walk through the Victoria Park is one of the best ways to do just that.
