iSCSI, or Internet Small Computer System Interface, is a protocol that sets up a shared storage so multiple servers can access the same drives over a TCP/IP network. With an iSCSI initiator and iSCSI target, iSCSI transports block-level data between a server and a storage device. iSCSI is an attractive alternative to more expensive Fibre Channel-based storage arrays, and work almost as well.
