MANY OF THE PROTESTERS WHO TOOK TO THE STREETS ARE BELIEVED TO BE RELATIVES OF SOME 850 PEOPLE KILLED DURING THE UPRISING THAT OUSTED HOSNI MUBARAK.
PROTESTERS SAY THE POLICE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MANY OF THOSE DEATHS.
THE HEALTH MINISTRY SAYS MORE THAN A THOUSAND PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HURT IN THE PROTESTS.
MORE THAN A HUNDRED WERE HOSPITALIZED.
THE MILITARY ISSUED A STATEMENT SAYING THE PROTESTS WERE DESIGNED TO DESTABILIZE THE COUNTRY... AND URGED EGYPTIANS NOT TO JOIN.
CRITICS SAY THE MILITARY'S CURRENT POLICIES ARE DESIGNED TO KEEP THE OLD ORDER... AND PROTECT SENIOR MEMBERS OF THE MUBARAK REGIME.
THE PROTESTS ARE AN INDICATION THAT RECONCILIATION BETWEEN THE PEOPLE AND POLICE... MAY BE FAR OFF.
