Where do we even begin with this journey? Well it all started after we arrived back in the Turkish Capital of Ankara. After spending hours researching different destinations we somehow found 2 empty beds on the Van Lake 'Express'. This was quite a unique opportunity as most sleeper trains in Turkey sell out 3-4 weeks in advance. We should also add that these tickets only cost about 10 USD/ Euro per person which is great value considering you don't need to pay for a nights accomodation anywhere.
We're glad we can tick the Van Lake Express off our Turkish bucket list but it's going to be a very long time until we get a sleeper train again.
If you have any questions please message us on Instagram and we will do our best to help. Some helpful tips would include:
- Bring an eye mask (maybe some sleeping pills lol)
- Bring plenty of food and water
- Bring CASH
- Make sure you have entertainment (cards, TV shows downloaded etc)
- Make sure your devices are charged before boarding
- Make sure you have enough data to cover your trip
- Don't expect this trip to 'only' be 26 hours (we got the feeling this usually happens).
