"Be in your body" is language that gets thrown around a lot in therapy spaces. But what does that actually mean??? Essentially, it is using your senses to reconnect with the present moment. Since your senses are connected to how your physical body is feeling in the moment, doing a grounding exercises will get you back to yourself, especially during periods of anxiety or panic. Try it out:
5: Acknowledge FIVE things you see around you
4: Acknowledge FOUR things you can touch around you
3: Acknowledge THREE things you hear.
2: Acknowledge TWO things you can smell.
1: Acknowledge ONE thing you can taste.
