Comet my yellow-dominant Camelot macaw is the only one of my birds that gives HUGS! I love it. He’s a cuddle-bug for sure. Even though he is the oldest of my 3 macaws, he has always acted like the baby.

***Know this before considering a toucan as a pet:

- They cost upwards of $10,000
- They live around 25 years, but normally less due to iron storage disease
- They cannot be housed with other types of birds because in the wild they EAT them and you never wanna work against instincts!!
- They have a very high maintenance diet!! 70% fresh, non citrus fruit and a low iron pellet + distilled water.
- They need more space than pet parrots because although they can fly, they are HOPPERS mostly and travel by jumping and shorter flights.
- They have extremely fast working metabolisms
- Their poops reflect their diet (think: splattered paint)
