Phi Theta Kappa is a nationally recognized honor society for two-year colleges. Alpha Sigma Rho is Reading Area Community College's honor society chapter. Every year, honor society members have a large Honors in Action project to complete. This project involves members researching a theme from the Honors Study Topic and an ongoing issue in their community or college. After conducting this research, we will create a plan for an action that will benefit the community and/or college.
This video is Alpha Sigma Rho's project: "Reading Cares." As a team, we decided the basis of our research derived from the question: How do the stories that highlight disadvantaged cities and underprivileged communities change the perception of the people within them? From there, after many interviews with some community members, we stitched together a video showcasing these interviews with community leaders in hopes of helping change some perceptions of Reading.
