What is the Carcinoembryonic Antigen Test?
A carcinoembryonic antigen test, also known as a CEA test, can help your doctor determine whether or not you have an increased risk of developing colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer occurs in the colon or rectum and is often asymptomatic until late stages when it can become life-threatening if left untreated. The symptoms of colorectal cancer may include bleeding from the anus, bloody stool, constipation or diarrhoea, fatigue, loss of appetite, unintentional weight loss and rectal bleeding.
