Politician and businessman Ion Paduraru has pulled out of running for the post of prime minister, just a day after being nominated by Moldovan president Nicolae Timofti.
Moldova has been rudderless since a no-confidence motion toppled the previous government in October following the fraudulent disappearance of USD 1 billion from the banking system of Europe's poorest country.
Protesters say they want a snap election to help the country overcome the crisis.
