In this video I have a look at my grafted Dahlia plant which has been growing well over the summer. In spring I grafted a garden Dahlia onto the root system of a tree dahlia (Dahlia imperialis) to see if it was possible to graft together two very different species of Dahlia. I look at how the growth of the garden dahlia differs when grown on the root system of the tree dahlia compared to how it grows on its own root system. I will try some more Dahlia grafts next year as I think the strong root system of the tree dahlia should lead to stronger garden dahlia plants.
