ONE SKILLET STOVE TOP LASAGNA
In this video I show you how to make one skillet stove top lasagna. It's just as delicious as the traditional dish without all the extra prep, fuss and time. You can have this delicious dish on your table in 30 minutes. Enjoy!
Shopping List:
1 1/2 Tbsp Canola oil
1/2 medium sweet onion, chopped
1 pound 80/20 ground chuck beef
8 "oven ready" lasagna noodles each broken into 6 pieces
About 20 ounces crushed tomatoes (almost a full 28 oz can)
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1 tbs tsp salt
1 tbs sugar
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried oregano
1 cup (7.5 oz) ricotta cheese
6 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
Italian flat leaf parsley for garnish
Directions:
In a large deep skillet, saute onions over medium-high heat in the oil just until soft and translucent.
Add in beef and breakup. Cook meat until browned well. Drain off fat.
Arrange the meat in an even layer along the bottom of the skillet.
Add in lasagna noodles that have been broken into pieces on top of the meat DO NOT STIR. Pour on top the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and water. AGAIN, DO NOT STIR YET.
Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low, cover and cook 10 minutes WITHOUT stirring!
After 10 minutes, carefully remove lid and stir. Add in salt, sugar and garlic powder. Mix well and separate any noodles stuck together. Replace lid and cook an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
After the second 10 minutes is done, turn off heat, remove lid, stir well and again separate any stuck noodles.
Sprinkle crumpled oregano over the top and add dollops of the ricotta cheese over top. Replace lid and let rest for 5 minutes. When the ricotta is partially melted, sprinkle the mozzarella on top and place under the oven broiler for 2-3 minutes just to melt and brown the cheese. (MAKE SURE YOUR SKILLET IS OVEN SAFE) Let rest again for about 5 minutes to set.
Garnish with parsley and enjoy!
