SnoreRx is actually made from a durable form of premium medical grade copolymer. On top of that, the upper and lower trays are connected very firmly, which alleviates all worry that any part of the device will deform during the molding process. And of course, it makes the boil & bite process a little easier.
Perhaps it is due to the tough construction of this appliance that SnoreRx states in the FAQs section of their website that on average this device lasts anywhere from 11 to 15 months. That’s a decent amount of time for a MAD.
The instructions state that after creating the mold, the device should display prominent teeth marks. That, in fact, was the case for me, and that can be seen in the picture of the MAD above. I should note that in my case the ridges of the MAD became slightly deformed in the hot water as can be seen in the picture as well, however, in no way did it impact the wearing of the device.
SnoreRx FittingIf after performing the boil & bite process you feel that your teeth marks are not as prominently engraved in the plastic as you would have liked, you can repeat the process. In fact, according to what I read in the manual, the MAD can be remolded up to three times. In my case, the boil & bite process created strong teeth marks the first time around, and the product fit in my mouth very well from the get-go.
One final point I would highlight is that I was impressed with the bold black markings on the product which clearly indicate some basic pieces of information. Most MADs offer a slight marking that indicates the up position of the MAD by utilizing an arrow or the word up engraved into the plastic.
A slight marking is more than adequate for such a purpose, but boldness helps. There is no getting your trays switched with this device. The accelerator is also displayed in bold markings, making it easy to set at any millimeter.
