English Ivy (Hedera helix) is typically used but what grows wild near me and what I use in the video is Canary Island Ivy (Hedera canariensis). Both are in the same genus and high in saponin which is why they work well.
For making the detergent, it's best to gather 40-100 leaves per quart of detergent. From that, you can make that amount or more.
Recommended amount per load is 1/4-1/2 cup. We use this for both our laundry (plus vinegar as a softener) and dishwasher.
