In this personal talk, writer and educator Javacia Harris Bowser shares how she brought a group of women writers together, the powerful impact it had on all of their lives, and how she carries this back into her classroom too.
Javacia Harris Bowser is a writer, educator, and entrepreneur based in Birmingham who graduated from journalism programs at the University of Alabama and the University of California at Berkeley. She is also the founder of See Jane Write, an award-winning membership organization and website for women who write and blog. Because of See Jane Write, Javacia was selected as one of the smartest women in Birmingham by the Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham, selected as one of Birmingham’s Top 40 Under 40 by the Birmingham Business Journal, and honored as one of Birmingham’s “Women Who Inspire” by Girls on the Run.
In 2016, she was included in Southern Living Magazine’s list of Innovators Changing the South, alongside household names like Dolly Parton and Reese Witherspoon. In the same year, she was also selected as one of the 30 Women Who Shape the State by Alabama Media Group.
In addition to her writing projects, Javacia also teaches English at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
