The Narmada River originates from Amarkantak Plateau in Madhya Pradesh, India. Its main tributaries include the Banjar, the Sher, the Shakkar, and the Tawa rivers, among others. These tributaries join the Narmada as it flows through the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, eventually emptying into the Arabian Sea.
