Are traceability and product turnover key elements in your business?
The firm's primary need was to design an automatic storage system that could supply Bonnysa's new distribution and packaging plant in Alicante. Installing a warehouse with these characteristics would allow the implementation of product traceability and turnover procedures, basic objectives in the firm's quality program.
Bonnysa's automatic warehouse consists of two buildings that have entirely separate functions:
-Field Chamber: used as a buffer between the goods coming directly from the growing areas and all tomato selection processes. The warehouse makes it possible to combine tasks that have very different work rhythms. For example, tomato unloading and calibration processes run at very different speeds; hence a mechanism is needed that can regulate the flow of traffic between the two zones.
-Calibration Chamber: used to store products that have been washed and calibrated, and are to be sent to the packaging lines. The function required for this warehouse is the traditional one involving stock management for delivery processes to packaging lines, ensuring strict monitoring of traceability and high product turnover. Goods are placed on double-depth shelving that allows for locations up to a second depth. Storage capacity is hence doubled without increasing the number of stacker cranes.
