Ten jihadi fighters have been killed in Egypt's Sinai peninsula over the past 48 hours in what is seen as a sharp escalation in fighting. The deaths came after three Egyptian police officers were killed by gunmen in separate attacks on Wednesday. Egyptian military reinforcements have been sent to the area with Israel's agreement.
