A huge forest fire that has been engulfing central Portugal since Saturday has killed at least 61 people and there are fears the death toll could rise.
The government says most of the victims were found dead in their cars as they tried to flee the forested region of Pedrogao Grande.
Prime Minister Antonio Costa said the inferno brought a dimension of human tragedy that cannot be remembered.
Hundreds of firefighters are still tackling the blaze, which local police say may have been caused by a lightning strike on a tree, exacerbated by an intense heat wave and dry, gusty winds.
More than 50 people have also been injured and three days of mourning for the victims has been declared.
