Can Peyronie’s disease heal itself?
One of the most popular questions that guys ask us here at Moorgate Andrology is if Peyronie’s disease can heal itself or if it needs a surgical solution to cure it. Peyronie’s disease is caused from an injury or trauma to the penis, and you will probably remember when and where it happened!
This causes a curvature that can sometimes cause little to no discomfort and distress during erection, however it can also be so profound that it can affect sexual performance and penetration.
Perhaps unfortunately to hear, Peyronie’s can’t heal itself and will need a surgical procedure to remove the curvature that it has gained from this injury. The procedure that is popular with the NHS is the Nesbit procedure, that removes the curvature from the penis but does result in a significant loss of length.
At Moorgate we offer an alternative solution called “plaque incision and grafting” that makes incisions into the scar tissue that form a graft, allowing the length of the penis to stay the same and for you to feel a lot less anxiety and discomfort about this in later life.
