Assembly election results for Maharashtra and Haryana would be out today as the counting of votes is set to begin at 8 am. Though the vote-counting is likely to be completed by 5 PM, the leads and trails in various assembly constituencies would soon clear the picture to an extent. According to the poll of polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party is set to retain power in both Maharashtra and Haryana.
While Maharashtra registered a provisional voter turnout of 60.05 per cent until 6 pm, Haryana scored 65 per cent, as lakhs of people across both the states had cast their votes on October 21.
The four major parties that are contesting in Haryana this year include the BJP, the Congress, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). Shiromani Akali Dal, meanwhile, is contesting on three states.
The key parties in Maharashtra are the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance and the Congress-NCP alliance.
Major candidates in fray include Devendra Fadnavis, Aaditya Thackeray and Manohar Lal Khattar.
