Prof. Mary Metcalfe has worked in education since 1974 serving as Gauteng MEC (1994 to 2004) for Education and also as DG in the Department of Higher Education and Training (2009). She is currently Director: Education Change at PILO. On 3 June 2020 Prof. Metcalfe took part in Discovery’s free, live webinar titled, “COVID-19: Sending children safely back to school" and facilitated by Claire Mawisa. This webinar brought together five specialists in the fields of child health and education. The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on school-going children. Due to enormous interest in access to the webinar post the event, Discovery has provided each speaker’s presentation individually as well as the webinar in its entirety.
