In this video, I explore the beautiful tile shop of Cortiço & Netos in Lisbon, Portugal. One of my favorite kinds of shops specializes in selling one particular product/item, and this tiles shop fits the bill perfectly.
Recommended by my hostel as a place to find unique tiles, I was advised to visit Cortiço & Netos. For those who haven't been to Portugal, tiles are literally everywhere - on walls, buildings, floors, and even as decorative pieces.
What better way to remember my trip to Lisbon than to grab a tile for myself and some for my newfound friends that I had met during my journey?
Tiago from Cortiço & Netos was also on hand to help me better understand the history behind some of the tiles they had in stock. I was intrigued to learn that many of their tiles are discontinued stock from tile factories in the 1960s, and most of their current stock are collections bought by Tiago's family.
I was told that once a particular tile is sold out, it's gone forever since they don’t produce these kinds of tiles anymore. It's a pity because they are so beautiful to look at.
I had a blast walking around Cortiço & Netos, and their shop is incredibly beautiful. I would recommend anyone looking for a great souvenir or gift from Lisbon to grab one of these soon-to-be rare tiles. With so many beautiful designs, you might find yourself taking longer than you should to choose the one that speaks to you the most. That’s what happened to me!
