How to SLAY your DOUBLE TONGUING 🪈💨
Would you like the ability to sprint through those quick repeated notes with ease? Or maybe the notes are jumping up through an arpeggiated line like in Carnival of the Animals! Either way, having more CONTROL over your double tonguing is an extremely powerful and useful skill to have as a flutist.
Here’s how I like to tell my students to earn a spot in the double tonguing muscle memory club:
💨 Isolate your double tonguing in exercises as part of your technique routine, no more than 5-10 minutes per day.
💨Aim for a more legato sound, as if the tongue is lightly disturbing the passage of air, like a small sin wave or like rocks skipping across water instead of SPALOOSHING into it.
💨Be sure to take breaks! Your brain needs time to process as you increase your stamina!
