When I learned that there was a science of goal achievement simply a set of cliche behaviors, I became goal obsessed.
For 75 years there has been studies of the science of goal achievement.
When you spend some time digging into the studies and the clinicals you realize “having some goals in your head” isn’t going to be the difference-maker in your end game.
Here’s a few:
“Challenging, well-established, specific goals clearly stimulate goal directed behavior and boost performance.” - Locke & Latham, 2001
“Conscious goal setting appears to increase the probability of goal-directed action and goal-related outcomes (...), improving student self-discipline and performance.” -Duckworth, 2013
“Employers could assume a 10% increase in productivity following goal-setting exercises.” -Schmidt, 2013
“Individuals with clear, written goals are significantly more likely to succeed than those without clearly defined goals.” -Ferguson & Sheldon, 2010
BEING GOAL ORIENTED IS NOT ENOUGH, GO FOR GOAL MASTERY
