Join us for a conversation with the editor and three contributors to Queer Nature: A Poetry Anthology. Poets Tamiko Beyer, Joy Ladin, Amber Flora Thomas, and Michael Walsh will discuss the role of "nature" in queer and trans lives and in poetry. What is queer nature? Who gets to be natural or unnatural and why? How queer or trans is the earth's flora and fauna? Does straight nature exist and could it be a false myth? Who gets to belong in a land or to a place and how do people do so without colonizing? How weird can a nature poem get? Join us and find out.
Tamiko Beyer is a poet and freelance writer. She is the author of the poetry collection, We Come Elemental (Alice James Books) and two chapbooks: Dovetail (co-authored with Kimiko Hahn, Slapering Hol Press) and bough breaks (Meritage Press).
Joy Ladin is the author of nine books of poetry, including recently reissued The Book of Anne, two Lambda Literary Award finalists, Impersonation and Transmigration, the National Jewish Book Award finalist Through the Door of Life; and The Soul of the Stranger: Reading God and Torah from a Transgender Perspective. A new collection, Shekinah Speaks, is forthcoming in 2022.
Amber Flora Thomas is the author of Eye of Water: Poems which was selected by Harryette Mullen as the winner of the Cave Canem Poetry Prize for first book by a Black writer of African descent. Her other poetry books include The Rabbits Could Sing and Red Channel in the Rupture.
Michael Walsh is the author of two poetry collections, The Dirt Riddles and Creep Love, as well as two chapbooks, Adam Walking the Garden and Sleepwalks.
