MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The man accused of several sexual assaults, and convicted of sexually assaulting a student on campus at the University of South Alabama was sentenced Monday. JaWaun Dawson will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
The incident happened in April 2014. Dawson made a blind plea of guilty in late October.
In April, Dawson abducted a female student at gunpoint on the campus where prosecutors say the female was raped before she was driven off campus and raped again. She was left at the Student Health Center.
Dawson stole the victim's wallet, including a debit card which eventually led to Dawson's arrest the next day, according to court records.
The day before the incident at South, Dawson broke into and robbed a home near the campus of USA.
Dawson also received sentences of 20 years for both the charges in that incident. He was already in jail Monday and will begin serving his sentence immediately.
