How to pronounce words ending in S - Pronunciation of final S in English
First we look at the common situations where S appears at the end of words:
- regular plural nouns
- third person singular verbs (simple present tense)
- possessive nouns (apostrophe S)
We then look at how the final S is pronounced in three different ways: /iz/ ... /s/ ... /z/
We see why the S is pronounced in these three ways by learning about voiced sounds, voiceless sounds (unvoiced sounds), and sibilant sounds.
We then give many examples of words ending in each of the /iz/ - /s/ - /z/ sounds.
To end this lesson we have a practice exercise.
We have created more practice exercises in this video: [ Ссылка ]
