While WFP is able to distribute food to people on or near UN bases in South Sudan, access to other conflict-affected areas is a challenge, notes WFP Regional Director Valerie Guarnieri. WFP recently launched a new operation to provide emergency food aid to up to 400,000 internally displaced people.
