Countries need to prepare for the introduction of COVID-19 vaccines along with routine immunization and campaigns. The introduction of a new vaccine impacts on programme planning, budgeting, cold chain system and the workforce. In preparation for new vaccines, we are not oblivious to the current challenges with the workforce: limited personal protection and equipment (PPE) for safety, staff shortages, poor motivation, inadequate compensation, attrition and limited capacity.
