👋 Today lets compare the 2025 Honda Civic Si to the current generation FL5 Honda Civic Type-R FL5! The Type-R is Hondas flagship performance car and the Si is the sporty version of the same platform. Overall you can of course see the resemblance of the Si and Type-R. Both being based on the 11th generation Honda Civic they carry a significant amount of similarities. The Type-R is based on the Civic Hatchback and the Si is based on the Sedan. Up front the Type-R is more aggressive looking also with wider fenders and tires. You'll see a hood vent as well and a massive rear wing. Si gets a lip spoiler with dual exhaust vs the more aggressive diffuser and triple center exhaust. Interior of the 2025 Si looks nice with the red sporty seats and red trim all around. The Si seats are a nice step up over a standard Civic. Type-R gets red bucket seats finished in microsuede and they hug you even more! Nice to see both cars have LED shift lights, but the Type-R also get the configurable screen in R mode. Driving the Si back to back with the Type-R is where they differ tremendously! It's hard to think that these are the same cars. The Type-R is noticeably more responsive and track focused. You feel like your sitting in a race car with the seats. Chassis is so much tighter and even just the breaking, clutch and shifter is so much more mechanical and precise. Big power bump too from the 2.0L I4 Turbo pushing 315 HP and 310 TQ vs the Si having a 1.5L I4 Turbo with 200 HP and 192 TQ. Much softer suspension in the Si but it's still nice and sporty to drive. By far however, the Civic Type-R is worth the price increase. It's a whole different car to drive and hits above it's price range. The Type-R can hang with high end cars around any track and is such an engaging car to drive! Civic Si is a fine sporty sedan at an affordable $30k price tag and seems right on par with others in this price range. But the Type-R is a big change and at $45k is worth every penny for the enthusiast.
