Makanyi Lodge is located in a prime wildlife viewing area, in the heart of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve which is adjacent and open to the Kruger National Park in South Africa – giving the animals millions of hectares to roam freely in . From the famous “Big Five” (lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos and rhinos) to the more common, yet equally spectacular, impala, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, monkeys and warthogs, there is endless action to be seen. The Timbavati Reserve is also home to over 300 bird species – a bird-watcher’s paradise.
Additionally, the Timbavati is the place where the world-renowned white lions originate and a sighting of these wonderful creatures is a truly special treat!
