It is my belief the Endemic Viper was startled by the Little Egret with its heron like appearance and thought a pre-emptive strike was her safest bet (I did not see the strike, however I did hear it). This is a unique occurrence possibly never documented before! The fate of the Little Egret is unknown.
***I added the music to make it intense, I in no way wish to demonize snakes especially this native endangered species that is vital to the ecosystem and sadly subject to much persecution! Without these expert rodent hunters we would see a plague of rats and fatal disease on this island.
