This video shows works in West Melbourne carried out as part of the Regional Rail Link project over the 2013 Easter long weekend. In total more than 40,000 man hours of labour carried out over four days .
Train services were suspened on the Ballarat, Bendigo and Sunbury lines to allow hundreds of metres of new track laid, thousands of tonnes of soil to be removed and more than $14 million worth of works to be delivered.
Over the weekend, construction teams strengthened 7 retaining walls, installed 12 pre-cast beams weighing 16 tonnes each, placed 1,700 tonnes of ballast, laid over 400 sleepers, and installed and tested new signalling along the corridor.
