Let me be honest with you...there are still nights where I wake up at 3 am from a dream about playing professional soccer. They aren't nightmares, but I wake up in a panic with my mind and heart racing. After all the surgeries and adversity, I unfollowed my teammates and blocked my coach on social media. I didn't want to see or hear anything about the sport.

It took me over 2 years to make peace with the situation and understand that my identity didn't come from my talents and achievements as an athlete. To this day, I still dream about the things my coaches and doctors said. Soccer is a dream that I will never forget, and although I stopped chasing it, four of my teammates "made it" and play in the MLS, two of which represent the Canadian men's soccer team.

Maybe someone shared this video with you because they saw some of you in me. You might be just like me - an athlete whose dream was crushed due to circumstances that were out of your control. You're not alone. And in case no one told you this, you're worth SO MUCH MORE than the name on your back or the number on your jersey. Understand that the situation you went through, as challenging as it was, has set you up for a great future. The principles and values you built chasing that dream will become the foundation for your future success.

Maybe you're not an athlete at all but you resonate with this video because you're going through a tough time. Maybe you had a dream and it was crushed. It's okay to change. It's okay to wake up one day and walk a new path. Sometimes in life, your dreams change. What's important is that you have the courage to continue chasing them...
