Our Board paper is setting out our overarching narrative on key messages for the second #StrategicTransportPlan.

It also provides members an update on progress to date in terms of drafting each chapter, as well as seeking their endorsement of the vision, strategic ambitions and smart objectives that will form a fundamental part of STP2.

This update is important because TfN has a statutory duty to produce a Strategic Transport Plan on behalf of the North of England.

Our first Strategic Transport Plan was adopted by TfN Board in February 2019 and the actual evidence that underpins that was produced in 2018, so almost five years ago.

Since then, the political, social, economic and environmental landscapes changed dramatically.
